A small historic Blacksmith Forge in Lyons, Colorado, had been converted to a home and had a series of additions and renovations over its lifespan. Collaborating with Roland Hower, of Hower Architects, a master bedroom addition was added to enlarge the floor plan. It was important for this new element to complement the existing architecture rather than attempting to mimic the historic aesthetic of the structure. Several cladding options were studied, with vertical wood siding being the best choice. This project is now built.
