CARRIAGE HOUSE GARAGE
A home Owner in Boulder wanted to add a detached garage to their property. There were many constraints to work within for this project including a maximized Floor Area Ratio, Coverage, bulk plane, and Solar Access. The City of Boulder has a Solar Access requirement stating that a structure cannot cast shadow on the neighboring property. Additionally, the structure could not be over 20’ at it’s tallest point, and the attic space above could not have over 6’ of head space to ensure the structure would not be an used as an ADU. Working closely with Hower Architects, we designed a functional garage that met the tight constraints of the site, and fit within the existing house architectural style. This project is slated for construction in fall of 2020.
